Grandma thinks I might like to get my hair done like this too.
"What is needed now by all supporters of the rule of law, social justice and human rights in the United States is strong support for the Obama administration's current position. Otherwise, a dangerous void is created in the conversation about Iran in which the same people who sang "Bomb, bomb Iran" are positioning themselves to be seen as the liberators of the very people they threatened to attack."
Time For Solidarity with Iran
If you like Monty Python, you have to see cake wrecks today. I laughed until I cried.

Hi. I'm Laura, and I should be writing a paper right now, but instead I'm sitting here doing everything else that I can possibly do with this amazing invention, the computer.
I have been meaning to post about new recipes for a long time. Maybe I have posted some and I don't remember. But I did finish upgrading my drupal site! Woo! I didn't break it a third time. I had to do it manually, file by file, because I originally installed it with fantastico. It's okay if you don't quite follow, because I don't either.
Ok, back to recipes. Yesterday I made Chocolate Chip Banana Bread. It looks better than the picture gives it credit for. I used 2% milk instead of buttermilk and sour cream. It calls for a tube shaped cake pan. I had a donut shaped cake pan - the kinds that you make upside down cake in. It also calls for cake flour but I used all-purpose. Well, surprise, surprise, what came out of the oven was a cake. It was my first successful cake from scratch.
Grandma really liked the chocolate chip banana bread/cake. She's very blunt at her age, to the point where "that isn't even soup" so when she flatters me about my cooking I'm very flattered. She asked where I got the recipe and I told her it came out of the computer. She said that she has seen the letters "com" tacked on to the ends of a lot of words lately and she wondered if it had anything to do with computers. I told her that it did, it usually meant that you could look at the computer for more information. She said that years ago someone had offered her a computer but she didn't realize at the time how important they were. She didn't like the way things flew across the screen so fast. She would like one now. Yep, this banana bread/cake/whatever was that good.
"[T]he demand for [recyclable] materials [in China] is less, which hurts the current recycling industry... leaving us with waste we don’t know what to do with."
Well, gee, do you think maybe we could try making our own stuff out of it?
